About

Maxime Houot

Collectif Coin is an artistic laboratory based in Grenoble, France. It builds shows and installations that are simultaneously monumental and intimate. Committed to the production of trans-disciplinary work with particular focus on the digital arts, Collectif Coin works mainly with light, sound and the body.

Among its research subjects we find:
- Spatial digitalisation using the creation of enormous very low definition screens composed of simple, free-standing forms.
- A dreamy, naïve, unsettling but enchanted vision of the digital technologies that surround us and what we, as individuals, can do with consumer trends.
- It has a strong attachment to in situ works.

From how many pixels can we tell a story ?

Starting from the premise that reality is a discretized representation of the world, and not continuous, Maxime Houot will eximane the minimum number of pixels, stimuli, including we need to have a representation. Through examples drawn from its creations carried out within Collectif Coin, he will focus on his peregrinations between concept and technical reality, and will try to explain the sometimes tortuous path that is emerging between the validation of a project and its completion."
