About

Ronald & Benuts

Ronald originally trained as an architect at the Victor Horta Institute (ULBrussels, Belgium) where he discovered the world of 3D and explored notions of space. This inspired him to pursue a career in VFX which he started through an education at London’s South Bank University. In 2003 he returned to the continent where he gained experience as compositor on several feature films, before joining Benuts as VFX supervisor from the start in 2010. As VFX supervisor, Ronald is responsible for the VFX supervision on set as well as for the supervision of Benuts’ VFX team of compositors. He ensures the director’s creative vision can be maintained to the highest possible quality.

VFX Masterclass

Benuts will present the visual effects completed on Stromae’s video clip « Quand c’est », on Versailles third season TV series, and on the following movies Death of Stalin, Serpent’s gift, What happened to Monday (Seven Sisters) and The Shallows. All those visuals effects combine 3D elements using Maya and Houdini, and 2D compositing done in Nuke or After Effects.
They want to acclaim the work performed by their artists who chose to stay in Belgium, to demonstrate that there is no need to go abroad to work on major projects. They want to put a stop to the local talents running off to England or Canada. There is a real shortage of VFX artists in Belgium where there is a huge demand and plenty of work.
Maybe it is time to highlight the Belgian VFX sector and explain the needs and demands of VFX companies to schools and students in training in this vibrant sector.
