About

Brendan Dawes

Brendan Dawes is a designer and artist exploring the interaction of objects, people, technology and art using an eclectic mix of digital and analog materials, for himself and for clients around the globe. Not concerned with current trends or fashions, Brendan's work is instead born from universal themes such as beauty, simplicity and curiosity.

Finding the analog in the digital

We seem to be living in a world of extremes, where epic, shock, and awe are the keywords of the day and subtlety and beauty are sent to the back of the queue. The things that surround us seem to be about making us more like machines rather than celebrating what it is to be human, encouraging us to get things done rather than be filled with joy, love, and other such “ridiculous” things. In this talk, UK artist Brendan Dawes shares his love of subtlety and nuance, how the things that we live and interact with should always have the capacity to be loved, and how he tries to design things that are imbued with lovely little inconveniences.
